Care checks
Which Arizona record matches the clinician?
Begin with the clinician’s full name and the kind of licence they hold. A board is the state office that checks a health professional’s right to practise.

Where do I check a doctor?
As of October 3, 2026, Arizona’s Medical Board provides Doctor Search for medical doctors, whose degree is written MD.
An osteopathic doctor is a doctor who assesses illness and provides medical care. Their medical degree is written DO rather than MD. Arizona has a separate board for these doctors, with a search called Find your DO.
Use the search that matches the letters after the doctor’s name. Compare the full name, licence number, and licence status with what the service gave you. Ask the board about any status you do not understand.
What if the clinician is a nurse practitioner or PA?
For checking nursing records online, Arizona’s Nursing Board links to Nursys, as of October 3, 2026. A nurse practitioner needs two records checked: the nursing licence and the advanced-practice certificate. That certificate records permission for the extra nursing role.
A nurse practitioner has extra nursing training; prescribing in Arizona needs board permission and must stay within that training.
Physician assistants, often called PAs, have an Arizona board with PA Search and licence verification.
Ask: does this record show a current licence for your kind of work? For a nurse practitioner offering medicine, also ask where the board’s permission to prescribe is shown. Ask the board if the records leave that unclear.
What if the person has an out-of-state licence?
As of October 3, 2026, Arizona offers a telehealth registration route under stated conditions; that registration is different from a full Arizona licence.
Ask: which Arizona board can confirm that you are allowed to treat me from another state? Get the licence or registration details and ask that board to check them.
Does a record with no complaints mean there were never any?
Only certain Arizona board records are shown online, as of October 6, 2026. Further public records can be requested.
A record with no complaints or disciplinary actions shown online does not prove that none ever happened.
This is different from finding no licence record for the person. If no person matches, ask the board for help finding the right licence. If a person matches, read the board’s notes about which past complaints and actions it shows.
